Having a wedding planner and/or coordinator you trust and feel comfortable with is so important! This is the person who is going to support you throughout your planning process and manage your big day! It's important that you feel confident in your planner before booking them for your wedding day.
Below are some tips we recommend when choosing your wedding planning!
Connection
It's SO important to schedule a consultation or at least chat with your planner prior to booking! You want to make sure you feel comfortable with them and have a strong connection away! You want to ensure that your personalities are a good match, as you will likely be spending a lot of them with them leading up to your big day. Weddings bring out heightened emotions and you want to find someone you can trust to support you through this process. I am a big believer in trusting your gut, but you should know pretty quickly if their vibes match yours!
Packages
Does the planner have a package that matches what you're looking for? Do they allow you to customize their packages, if not? Make sure you have an idea of what you're looking for prior to beginning your search for your wedding planner! It is helpful to make sure you have a clear understanding of your budget and your wedding needs so you know if the planners you are researching offer what you are looking for!
Price Point
It is always very helpful to all vendors, including planners, if you are able to provide the vendor's with your ideal budget. It also helps to have an open mind about pricing. It is important to stick to your budget, but it's also important to keep an open mind, so you don't miss out on your perfect vendor match!
Experience
Has the planner executed a wedding similar to your vision / style? It can be helpful to choose someone that has experience with your wedding style and has successfully executed the style you are hoping for! If you don't see any photos that match what you're looking for - ASK! Ask them if they are comfortable designing and executing your style of wedding!
Understanding of your Vision
Another criteria we recommend is feeling confident that the planner understands your vision! If during your consultation they seem to fully understand the vision you are describing, they might feel like a confident choice! It's a very reassuring feeling when someone is able to completely see your vision and feel confident in their ability to execute it seamlessly.
Lastly, if the vendor is not the right fit for you - make sure you let them know! Please try to refrain from ghosting the vendors you've chatted with. Let them know that they aren't the right fit, and it's even helpful to let them know why.
